Whats your guys take on kayak sails? I've been looking into them on YouTube...and i just don't think i'd shell out the money for one....i mean....if you get tired i guess it could be beneficial IF you're alone...in any other case i'd just break out my tow rope and hook it on the nearest person i'm kayaking with....who's had experiences with these?....give me your honest opinion...before i make the purchase i mean.

Sail video

Mmmm...how i'd love to kayak the islands of Tasmania......also...sorry for the mediocre quality of the video...if you look closely, the blue pixle is the sail and the flesh colored pixel is a kayaker...i believe...

I have a hand held one that I bought for the cash I had in my pocket at the end of a trade show. I think they were selling for $100 and I had a twenty!

I didn't have sailing experience or a rudder on my kayak, so I was pretty much at the mercy of the wind as far as the direction I traveled. I only used it once. It might come in handy if you're solo and break or lose your paddle and spare. Otherwise, just something different to do (play with) on the water.

It would be pretty easy to make one of these sails - two dowels and wind breaker fabric. The nice apart about the one I bought is it had a window at eye level. I'd share a photo, but don't have any idea where I stored it. I will look online for a similar sail.

It is similar to this sail: [Click Here]

I am starting to gain interest in one of these goofy things... How often is the wind at your back though? And strong enough to matter.

These are quite popular in big Water Tribe events. When you are paddeling 300 miles in a week ( Everglades Chalenge) I could see how they would be a big help.
